We recently worked with a borrower who is a highly compensated, young doctor who just-recently switched from a W-2 employee to 1099 self-employed (which usually requires a wait time of 2 years for self-employed people to purchase a home). Our borrower was able to take advantage of Fannie’s Mae’s non-occupying co-borrower program to add his parents to the loan to allow this young doctor to purchase a new home now.
